Here are two of our Bactrian Camels (they have two humps). They are just relaxing in the barn chewing their cud.
Camels chew their cud much like cows. They have several chambers in their stomachs. Cud is food burped up from one of the stomachs. When camels "spit" they shake their heads to flap their lips, which in turn makes the cud fly all over the place. They only do this when they are agitated and contrary to cartoon myth are not entirely accurate when they "spit."
